Union Public Service Commission conducts CDS entrance exam every year. CDS exam will be executed to recruit the hard working, brilliant and talented candidates for Combined Defense Services (CDS).


Paper 1: English

  • A) Reading Comprehension
  • B) Jumbled Sentence
  • C) Fill in the blanks
  • D) Sentence Correction
  • E) Finding errors and omissions etc

Paper 2: General Knowledge

  • A) Knowledge of current topics
  • B) knowledge of History of India and Geographical issues
  • C) Indian Economy
  • D) Current happening in the field of business, politics, sports, entertainment etc.
  • E) Monuments of India
  • F) Books and Authors name etc

Paper 3: Elementary Mathematics

  • A) Arithmetic
  • B) Algebra
  • C) Geometry
  • D) Trigonometry
  • E) Menstruation
  • F) Statistics


  • The CDS examination will be conducted in two phases:
  • Written examination
  • Interview/ Personality Test
A). For admission in IMA, INA and AFA:

Age criteria
  • For IMA : 19 years to 24 years.
  • For Naval Academy: 19 years to 22 years.
  • For Air Force Academy: 19 years to 23 years.
  • For Officers Training Academy: 19 years to 25 years
Qualification Required
  • Indian Military Academy Candidates Have Bachelor Degree in any Stream From any Recognized University in India.
  • Indian Naval AcademyCandidates Have Bachelor Degree in Engineering From any Recognized University / Institute.
  • Air Force Academy Candidates Have Bachelor Degree in any Stream with Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 Level OR Bachelor of Engineering.
  • Officers Training Academy Non Technical (Male/Female) Candidates Have Bachelor Degree and its Equivalents in any Stream From any Recognized University in India.
